Heraldic Stained Glass
Tension between Catholics and Protestants began the Reformation. Most of the medieval stained glass in Catholic churches all across England were destroyed. The French Revolution ultimately led to the destruction of much of the stained glass in France. This stopped the creation of Biblical stained glass panels for many years. Heraldic, or family crest panels was considered more safe as subject matter.
